  1. 2 man tent

    Vango Blade 200 Pamir Green

We chose the Vango Blade 200, a dome tent for two, as the tent this kit is built around. Its page gives the inner length and width, so check you both fit before you order.

  2. 2 × Sleeping mat

    Highlander Comfort Camper Mat

One each: the ground takes your heat faster than the air, so each of you needs your own layer under you. Two mats side by side should fit the tent's floor; check its width on the tent's page.

Good for
  • Two friends or partners sharing a tent, April to October
  • Splitting the weight: one carries the tent, the other the rest
  • Campsites, and wild camps where they're allowed
Not for
  • Two people who each want their own tent: buy two First Solo Night Kits
  • Winter, or camping above 800m in autumn
  • Families: a 2 man tent sleeps two adults

What's not included, and why

  • No sleeping bags. Each of you brings your own, so you can each choose one warm enough for you. A 3-season bag suits April to October.
  • No gas. Buy a cartridge that fits the stove before you set off.
  • No head torches. One each.
  • No rucksacks. One of you carries the tent: check its packed size against your rucksack.

When and where you can use it

Use it from April to October, below about 800m once autumn arrives.

A campsite makes an easy first trip for two. Before a wild camp, check where you are allowed to pitch.

Pitch late, leave early, and carry out everything you carried in, including food scraps. Read how we camp

Questions people ask

Why no sleeping bags?
People feel the cold differently. A bag each, chosen for the person sleeping in it, beats one bag that is right for only one of you.
Is gas included?
No. Buy a cartridge that fits the stove before you go.
Is it cheaper as a kit?
No. It costs the same as buying each item separately.
